Dr. Claudia Taubman was a joy to find. She works out of Ob-Gyn Associates in Silver Spring, which is a rather high-traffic office, with a waiting room the likes of a Planned Parenthood. The staff there is friendly enough, and I got in to see her within a few weeks of calling to make the appointment.
Dr. Taubman herself is extremely personable, with a relaxed demeanor and an easy-to-reach sense of humor. Her private office is located away from all the hubbub and it feels more like a private practice once you're in there. My exam went smoothly (no oven mitts!) and she was careful to make sure that the visit was coded to be covered by insurance.
Ob-Gyn Associates is moving this summer. Currently, however...

Glad you liked Dr. T. I worked at that practice for 3 yrs and she is one of the best docs I have worked with.

My much-adored male OBGYN retired, and I had to find a new one. I found this comment and went to see Taubman. Did I catch Dr. Taubman on a bad week?
She was rude, the office did not respond to my calls to get test results, and a comment from the nurse indicated she commonly performs unnecessary procedures. ("She always finds a reason to biopsy.")
Having a doctor with such attitude do anything so invasive was troubling.
But here's the kicker: I went into her office afterward, and saw this bumper sticker:
"Home Deliveries are for PIZZA"
Sorry girls. I believe there is a reason that countries with MUCH better birth outcomes than the U.S. require home births. They know better than Taubman.

I am going to have to go with ReadMoreHere's comment. Dr. Taubman never called with test results, she was not personable, and didn't seem at all interested in me. She did, however, propose some procedure I've never even heard of before. After the test results, I never heard back, though.

I've been going to her for years. Love her.

I just wanted to say how glad I was to have found these reviews. I also found that she was going to perform an unnecessary, and very painful biopsy on me. 3 other doctors told me there was no reason to since I had to have surgery anyway. I was so disgusted, I immediately left the practice in the middle of all this and found a new amazing doctor. I would never, ever recommend her or the practice to anyone.

I travel from Baltimore City to Silver Spring to see Dr Taubman because she is so professional. I could go to practices at Johns Hopkins or any other well known institution in Baltimore, but I prefer Dr Claudia Taubman. There is a reason she has been voted the best doctor in the Washington area for years!

I have been going to Dr. Taubman for 20 years and have always found her professional, but very accessable. She has never failed to return calls, explain options and accommodate my needs. She is funny and warm. I recommend her to everyone!
In response to an earlier blogger, home deliveries ARE for pizza! As a health professional, I can tell you that bad things can happen at the last minute during labor. You want to have access to an OR if you need it!

I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT OF DR TAUBMAN NOW FOR 9 YEARS AND I CAN'T EMAGINE NOT HAVING HER AS A DR. I WAS WITH HER WHEN SHE WORKED BEFORE OBGYN AND ONE DAY WHEN I CAME IN THE OFFICE FOR AN APPOINTMENT THEY TOLD ME SHE HAD RETIERED I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT AND WAS SO DEVASTATED. I KNEW THAT THIS COULD NOT BE TRUE SHE WAS NOT THE TYPE OF PERSON THAT COULD DO THIS TO ME. SOME HOW SHE CALLED ME HER SELF AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND THE NEXT DAY I HAD TAKEN MY FILE SO THAT MY NEXT VISIT WAS WITH HER. WHEN I CALL HER WITH A CONCERN SHE HAS ALL WAYS RETURNED MY CALL BY THE END OF THE DAY. AFTER ALL SHE IS HUMAN AND HAS A FAMILY HER SELF HOW CAN I NOT RESPECT THAT.
LAST YEAR I RESEIVED THE NEWS THAT I WAS PREGNANT AND THIS IS WHAT DR TAUBMAN AND I HAD BEEN WORKING ON FOR YEARS. WHEN SHE TOLD ME THAT MY TEST WAS POSITIVE THAT WAS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE AND SHE JUMPED FROM HER DESK CAME TO THE OTHER SIDE AND GAVE A BIG HUG. SHE IS THE DR THAT I WANTED TO DILIVER MY DAUGHTER BUT UNFORTUNATLEY SHE NO LONGER DOES OB. I WAS UPSET ABOUT THAT BUT IT WAS NOT HER FAULT.SHE REFFERED ME TO A ANOTHER DR AND EVENTHOUGH IT WAS OUT OF HER HANDS SHE WOULD STILL TOUCH MY BELLY AND ASK ME ABOUT MY BABY.
THAT TO ME IS A GREAT DR I WOULD NEVER CHANGE HER AND IF SHE WOULD DO OB AGAIN ALL OF MY CHILDREN WOULD BE DELIVERED BY HER .
SHE IS THE BEST.

She has been my gyn for something like 20 years. I adore her. I can't imagine her not returning calls or being rude. She is friendly, professional. As for recommending procedures - well, grow up. Doctors have differences of medical opinion all the time. It doesn't mean that the recommendation is wrong. Medicine is not exact. I was just about to call to make an appointment and I am devastated to know that she has retired and that I now have to find another gyn.

To Birdy and all the other kind comments: I have NOT retired. I can be found with ObGyn Associates at 1400 Forest Glen Rd. The office phone is 301 681-6772. I look forward to seeing you all. I truly love what I do and have no intention of retiring for a long time.
