Dr. Steen works in the Division of Rheumatology and Georgetown University Hospital. I found her on the Washingtonian's Top Doctors list. I wasn't with her long, as she simply referred me to a hand surgeon downstairs, but she was very friendly, personable, seemingly capable.
GU is a teaching hospital, so I was greeted and examined by a kid who did a good enough job. I was a little irritated, having waited over an hour to see a Top Doctor just to have an appointment with someone fresh out of his fraternity, but he was also pleasant, and I got enough time with Dr. Steen so as not to feel completely short-changed.
She got a kick out of the fact that I found on her on that list. "Was I the only woman?" I think she might have been.
Dr. Virginia Steen, Georgetown University Hospital, 3800 Reservoir Road, Washington DC, 202.444.8233

Dr. Steen has been my Rheumatoligist for eight years. She has helped me to manage both my disease and my life with disease in a healthy way. She understands me as a person first and a patient second, and I love her for it. I think not only of her as my physician, but also as my friend. Yes, GU is a teaching hospital and often times we patients serves as test dummies for new doctors. Keep in mind, that it is only from fraternities to real life patients like you and I that these young miracle workers become older, experienced miracle workers that make The Washingtonian's Top Doctors List. Hope this post finds you well and in good health. Best wishes.
