In case you haven't noticed, this week is DC Restaurant Week. More than 140 restaurants are participating, a whopping two of which are in Bethesda, Jaleo and Oakville Grille and Wine Bar. I guess all the other Bethesda restaurants are holding out for their own, and they got one. (Jaleo and Oakville Grille are participating in both.)
Bethesda-Chevy Chase Restaurant Week will be held from January 23rd to January 29th. B-CC Restaurant Week is in its second year, and really, its second week. The first was last July, and it seems to have been a success, or at very least worth another try.
From Monday to Sunday you can get a 2-course lunch for $15 and a 3-course dinner for $30 (up from $10 and $25 last summer) at 32 participating restaurants (up from 20). That's a savings of $5.06 and 6¢ off this year's DC prices of $20.06 and $30.06. That savings may have been made possible by the absence of a web designer for the event. Maybe next year.
In the meantime, the Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce has put together this flyer, and DowntownBethesda.com has this really cool map of participating restaurants. Let's support our soups!
David Craig Bethesda - out-of-control good. Great mussels, great salmon, great chicken two ways, great crème brulee, great wines by the glass. Go.
Grapeseed - also a nice selection for restaurant week, with cornmeal fried oysters, stuffed piquillo pepper, braised pork shank, filet mignon, apple crisp. But not many wines on the cheaper side.

Hi! Just moved from NYC via Chicago to Bethesda two weeks ago. I loooove yoga, too! and noticed many familiar yoga places under "Yoga I Love" :) I'm actually certified @ OM (like so many others. LOL).
Bethesda seems to be interesting area... I, too, have to explore a little bit more. As for the yoga practice, I'll be taking Iyengar classes @ Unity Woods starting next week. :). I also tried Tranquil Space Bethesda. Any other good studio around here?

Okay, first off, your cat looks JUST LIKE mine!! It's uncanny. I sent a pic to your blog.
Second, yoga... I really like Spiral Flight and Thrive, both a bit of a drive but worth it if you have the time. Let me know how you like Unity Woods, or anywhere else you find. And if you like Anusara, try www.willowstreetyoga.com. That's next on my list.
(Funny parallel lives!)

whoops! i accidentally erased your comment - but i don't think i saw the pic... i'm not sure how you 'sent' the pic to my blog - if you can, send it to makochan_m@hotmail.com. i'd love to see your cat.
btw, sorry about my blog in japanese. LOL. i have more pictures of taku, my cat, @ http://taku007.exblog.jp
i took one free yoga class @ unity woods - i do like iyengar a lot - but if you are looking for a 'workout' this one may not be the one for you. their focus is on alignment, as you probably know. i tried tranquility space both bethesda and in dupont circle. kevin @ dupont circle is great - but i may be bias since he is my friend. LOL. i saw the website of 'thrive' it looks great! unfortunately, i don't have a car so it has to be some place with metro access. :(
i showed my boyfriend your blog, and we felt three of us were on the same page in terms of restaurants in this area...
oh, btw, i went to NYU, too! looong time ago, though. :-)
